TIMING SYSTEM

DOUBLE ROLLER & REPLACEMENT TIMING SETS

    TA High Performance O.E.M. approved timing sets provide the ultimate in high performance and durability.

    All Chains used are of the highest quality.  These chains incorporate a solid roller design which provides a true bearing surface that increases both chain and sprocket life.

    The cam sprockets are manufactured from high tensile strength cast iron, machined to exacting tolerances insuring a proper fit.  Both cam and crank sprockets utilize a larger tooth profile for superior strength and the highest in performance. Crankshaft sprockets are machined from SAE-1144 stress proof steel, and the teeth are induction hardened.  The crank sprockets also incorporate three keyways (0°,-4°,+4°) to allow for accurate timing selection.  These advantages make TA's High Performance Double Roller Timing sets the high quality answer to your performance needs.

    Note: Stock Replacement sets are single row and incorporate an all steel gear design as opposed to the original nylon coated gear design.

    This timing set is the ultimate in double roller timing sets!   The difference is accuracy.  No more problems degreeing cams because these billet timing sets have nine keyways (0°,2°,4°,6°,8° advance and retard) for precision timing selection.

    The cam and crank sprockets are machined from high grade steel - stronger than the cast iron sprockets.  They utilize a true roller type chain made of the highest quality and matched paired sprockets for precise chain fitment.

    These chain sets are also available in .002", .004", .005", .006", .008" and .010" over size for engines that have been align honed.  Please specify if needed.

REPLACEMENT TIMING CHAINS

    Replace worn or stretched timing chains with the highest quality replacement double roller timing chain.  Solid roller design increases both chain and sprocket life.

ADVANCE AND RETARD GEARS

    Timing Set.jpg (125926 bytes)TA now has special crankshaft gears with nine keyways, 0°,2°,4°,6°,8° plus or minus for advancing or retarding your camshaft.  Unlike offset crank keys which not only alter the timing mark location, but throw the engine completely our of balance which can cause severe damage.  Offset keys will advance or retard the cam and the balancer at the same time, and don't forget that Buick engines are externally balanced.

    TA's new steel billet advance and retard gears will allow anyone to degree the cam in their engine for maximum performance by moving the cam in 2° increments for track testing.

Note: These gears are compatible with any other manufacturer's double roller sets.

TIMING COVERS

    Don't neglect an important part of your engine.  The timing cover was designed to perform a number of functions.  It holds the water pump, fuel pump and distributor, it houses the oil pump, covers the timing set, and it seals the crankshaft.

    Recommended for all engine rebuilds if stock cover shows signs of wear.  Cast timing covers are direct replacements for worn stock timing covers.   All timing covers are carefully inspected for tolerances in oil pump area.  We recommend using a TA oil pump kit when replacing the timing cover.

We HIGHLY recommend RMI 25 coolant conditioner to prevent corrosion on aluminum engine parts, ask your TA sales associate when ordering timing covers, intakes, cylinder heads, or radiators!
