Gary West's Lola F3000
Bunbury, Western Australia

Using the TA V3800 Aluminum Block and TA reciprocating assembly, including titanium connecting rods. The engine is normally aspirated and breathes through a custom fuel injection set up and Stage 2 heads. The TA block replaced his previous iron Stage 2 block.

Gary's F3000 is a multi purpose race car, which has proven very successful on the road course and the Australian hill climb circuit.

On Friday, October 28, 2004, Gary and his team completed the assembly of the vehicle and dynoed it. Two days later they sent Peter Gumley, the seven time Australian hill climb champion packing. Out of a 115 car field, Gary's F3000 was the only one using Buick Power.

In 2005, Gary lost the hill climb to Gumley by only .26 seconds. Once again, it was an excellent show for the NORMALLY Aspirated Buick as it competed against Gumley's SUPERCHARGED VW powerplant.

In December 2005, Gary broke a 21 year old record for the fastest lap at the 2.41km long Barbagallo Raceway Wanneroo, beating the old record by more than one full second and averaging 166.36 kph (103 mph). He also broke his previous record for the short track as well.

Gary holds the records at Wanneroo for the long track, short track and the Jack's hill climb.

Other than the power that the engine provides, Gary was quick to mention that because of the reduced weight he can enter the turns harder and faster that most of his competitors!
